The Two Shot Podcast
#TSP085 - Mike Jibson

#TSP085 - Mike Jibson

April 18, 2019

Hiyer. How's it going? Happy Thursday. It's that Two Shot Podcast time of the week and on this episode we're talking to the brilliant Mike Jibson. Mike is a real acting polymath, moving effortlessly between stage, the silver screen and television. You may have seen him recently in his Olivier Award-winning performance in Hamilton or in the films The Lighthouse, Les Miserables and Star Wars or on the telly in The Last Kingdom.
Mike is a passionately honest person with an absolute devotion to his art. His approach to his own mental health and overcoming his obstacles is absolutely inspiring. He and Craig talk childhood inspiration, first-day anxiety, brain farts and calling Hull home. It's a great hour or so and we can't thank Mike enough for coming on and sharing his story with us.

There's a bit of a service announcement in the intro this week so keep your ears open for that.

#TSP084 - Anjli Mohindra

April 11, 2019

What's popping Two Shot Podcast listeners? How are you diddling? It's episode 84 time. We've got another fantastic guest for you this week in the form of the actor Anjli Mohnindra. You might know Anjli from Jed Mercurio's brilliant drama Bodyguard or from ITV's Dark Heart amongst a bunch of other stuff. We met her in Maison Bertaux on Greek Street on a spring-like day where after a brief discussion on the nature of gratitude and moan about ungrateful road users, she and Craig got down to it. She's a brilliantly warm and genuine person with a brilliant outlook on life and we're sure you'll enjoy listening in to her story.
Thanks a lot for being here.

A bit of bad news here about the live show at the BFI -

We’re so sorry to say that due to a personal issue, we’ve had to pull out of the Radio Times festival on April 14th. We're so sorry to let you down but this is unavoidable. Many thanks to Radio Times, the BFI & Richard E. Grant for their warmth & support.

BFI will be in touch about refunds.

We’ll talk to Richard later in the year. Promise.

#TSP083 - Connor Swindells

#TSP083 - Connor Swindells

April 4, 2019

Hello. How are you? We do hope you're alright.
We've got another episode of the Two Shot Podcast for you this week. It's our 83rd and it's a chat with an actor called Connor Swindells.
Connor showed up to meet us in Soho looking unflappably cool and wearing one of the loveliest pairs of boats we've ever seen. He then proceeded to pour his heart out onto the table and share with us his incredible story of love, loss, passion and paranoia. You'll hear him talk about boxing, on-set breakdowns, not fitting in with your big brothers and being poor. He really doesn't hold too much back.
You might know Connor from the hit Netflix show Sex Education where he plays the character Adam Groff. You might've seen him in the films VS. or The Vanishing. He's a great actor who really inhabits his work and the future looks so, so bright for him.
Craig gives a little warning in the intro of this week's podcast as some of the subjects we touch on are pretty heavy. If you're feeling a bit fragile, it might be worth leaving listening until you feel a bit better. Or, conversely, it might be exactly what you need to hear. Either way, we can't thank Connor enough for sharing an hour with us and with you.

#TSP082 - Tom Davis

#TSP082 - Tom Davis

March 28, 2019

It's that Two Shot Podcast time of the week again and have we got a barrel of laughs for you this week (albeit a well-tempered and thoughtful barrel of laughs). It's the actor, writer and comedian Tom Davis! You might know Tom from his role as DI Sleet in Murder In Successville or alongside Romesh Ranganathan in Judge Romesh or from his work with Leigh Francis in Bo' Selecta and the Keith Lemon programs.
We travelled down to that London again and met up with Tom in our Soho cafe of choice, Maison Bertaux. We talked social-media, scaffolding, stand-up comedy and Croydon. Tom's a belter of a fella with infectious sense of humour and a gift of yarn-spinning. It's a top episode with plenty of jokes. By the end, if you didn't already, you'll have a proper soft-spot for Tom.

Thanks a lot for listening.

March 21, 2019

So here we are again... EPISODE 81.

How’s your week been?  Good?  Not bad?  Fair?  Actually pretty bad?
Well, put everything aside for a while and get in your podcast zone and do something for you.  Forget about that email you have to send. Put down that phone and make that call later.  Spend a little bit of time to listen to someone else’s story. Just for a while.

It’s a funny thing.
When booking guests to come on the podcast it can be:
1: people we know ( quite rare but still happens)
2: people we’ve never met before but may have heard of( almost all the time)
3: people we’ve never met but get recommended by people we do know ( sometimes)

And now there’s a “4”....the complete accident ( this is the first time!)

Craig stumbled across AMY BOOTH STEEL on social media.  It was a video. A video of a young woman with a ukulele.  She was singing a song. ....and that’s just the start...
We got in touch as we thought her story should be heard and this seemed the perfect platform for to do it. We were right.  Amy is total tonic and we think you’re going to love her.
If you’ve seen her videos that have gone viral then you’ll understand....if you havnt...then you will...

THIS IS EPISODE 81 OF THE TWO SHOT PODCAST with the INCREDIBLE AMY BOOTH-STEEL.

#TSP080 - Jemima Rooper

March 14, 2019

Hiyer, how're you keeping? Decent we hope. Thanks for listening in to this, the eightieth episode of the Two Shot Podcast.

This week we are joined by the infectiously lovely Jemima Rooper. We were back in our spiritual London home of Maison Bertaux this week. Jemima came and met us, we had a brew and really bloody nice chat.

Jemima has been on our stages and screens for the best past of the last thirty years. You may know her from her childhood appearances as George in The Famous Five or on the big screen in The Black Dahlia, or on our TVs in Hex, As If and Lost in Austen amongst a myriad of other things. Jemima is a joy to be around and her contagious mirth is hard to resist. She and Craig talk parenthood, child acting, juggling exams and your job, growing up and how often it's acceptable to leave it before washing your bedsheets.

It's a fabulous episode and you'll absolutely love Jemima.

ENJOY.

March 7, 2019

Here we are at episode 79 of the Two Shot Podcast. We're very glad you could join us this week.
First thing's first, a little bit of housekeeping. We've got a date for your diaries. It's Sunday the 14th of April in that London. We'll be sitting down for a live TSP chat with RICHARD E. GRANT. For more info and to get tickets, go here. It'd be ace to see you down there.
Secondly, thanks to all the people who've pledged a bit of money via our Patreon site. We're getting on the badge admin very soon. Thanks for being total babes.
Onto this week then. We're joined by the wonderful Geoff Lloyd. If you're big podcast fans like we are, chances are you'll have heard some of Geoff's work. You can find him alongside Ed Miliband on the Reasons to be cheerful podcast, or presenting Adrift with Annabel Port. If you haven't heard them, then go and subscribe. They're both amazing.
Geoff has amazing tales to tell on this week's pod. He talks about battling his demons and what almost two decades of sobriety feels like. It's a great insight into a fascinating life and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we did recording.
Shout out to Geoff for letting us use his podcast studio to record in as well!

#TSP078 - Joseph Gilgun (Part 2)

#TSP078 - Joseph Gilgun (Part 2)

February 28, 2019

Nah then. How are you keeping? We've got another sequel for you this week. It's the return of one of Chorley's finest exports Mr. Joseph Gilgun!
We chatted to Joe way, way back in 2017 (click here to listen) and the feedback we got from that episode was incredible. Joe doesn't do too many interviews so having the opportunity to sit down again and record was a real honour.
When we spoke to Joe, he'd just wrapped from a hectic shoot on his own creation; the soon to be released series Brassic. He was just readying himself to travel halfway across the world to start shooting the next series of AMC's Preacher - A brutal schedule by anyone's reckoning. The episode finds him wrestling with his emotions. The brutality and honesty of his self-analysis is sometimes startling but they shine so much light on the human condition, it's impossible not to be completely won over. His unfiltered passion and storytelling ability is nothing short of spellbinding and the anecdotes are typically hilarious. It's a beautiful episode that we're so proud to be able to bring you.

This is episode 78 of the Two Shot Podcast with Joseph Gilgun.

#TSP077 - Tchéky Karyo

#TSP077 - Tchéky Karyo

February 21, 2019

Bonjour TSP listeners. Hope you're well as you read this.

We've got an absolute treat for you this week in the shape of a chat with the enigmatic actor Tchéky Karyo. You may have seen Tchéky in his role of detective Julien Baptiste in The Missing and Baptiste or in such films as The Patriot, Goldeneye, Bad Boys and La Femme Nikita. He has an incredibly impressive resume, but this being the Two Shot Pod we don't really talk about all that stuff.
Tcheky is a passionate and deeply interesting person. His life-experiences of growing up in a melting pot of cultures and environments have moulded him into the wonderful person he is. Craig and Tchéky talk here about the brutality of school, the importance of bread and cheese, the power of avant-garde theatre, the human spirit, Paris in the 50s and 60s, and much, much more. It's a really beautiful episode and we're so proud to put it out.

Enjoy episode 77 of the Two Shot Podcast with Tcheky Karyo.
