Happy Thursday !

As we travel through the TSP archives, this week, to celebrate the new C4 comedy YEAR OF THE RABBIT ( also starring past TSP fav guest MATT BERRY) we revisit the exceptional episode where we welcomed the force of nature that is SUSAN WOKOMA!

It’s a funny and very touching, sometimes extremely moving episode.  Enjoy.

Year of the rabbit is on 10pm on C4 (uk) and the whole box set is available to go binge on SKY & NOW TV.

We’ll be back with BRAND NEW EPISODES TOWARD THE END OF THIS MONTH (June) & then we get back to recording in July.

It’ll be worth the wait.

All the love

Craig & Griff.

Alright Two Shot Pod listeners. How goes? Hope you're all feeling reasonable or better this week. We've got a treat in store for you in the shape of an absolutely top chat with Susan Wokoma
You might know Susan from her appearances in Chewing Gum and Crazyheador more recently her brilliant comedy short Love The Sinner for Sky.
We met up with her in the basement room of Maison Bertaux in Soho and after Craig had told the unusually raucous patrons upstairs to keep the noise down, we got down to it. Susan talked movingly about her life growing up with immigrant parents, about being skint, about gentrification in her beloved London and about loads and loads more. It's an absolutely spell-binding hour or so that we're sure you'll find inspiring, heartbreaking and hilarious in various measures.

Thanks a load for listening and if you enjoyed it, why not tell your pals. Especially those who don't ever listen to podcasts. Show 'em that glorious little purple app on their iphones that's a portal to unparalleled audio riches.

TSP Classics - #TSP050 - Charlie Cooper

TSP Classics - #TSP050 - Charlie Cooper

June 6, 2019

Alright TSP listeners. Happy June to you all. Producer Griff here btw. Me and Craig had a good chat on Monday and the TSP recording machine should be back in effect at the end of the month. But, in the mean time, we're bringing you another banger from the vaults in the form of the infectiously funny Charlie Cooper. Charlie and his talented sister Daisy recently won a Bafta for their brilliant writing on This Country (If you still haven't seen it, get it watched). We thought we'd shed a new light on this episode and give some newer listeners an insight into this brilliant comic mind...

HAPPY THURSDAY!!!
IT'S OUR PODCAST BIRTHDAY!!!

That's right. Can you believe it's a whole year that we've been bringing you episodes?
What a year it's been! We've met some incredible people, heard amazing stories, we've laughed, we've cried and drank many cups of tea along the way. It's been a rollercoaster of a year and we're so grateful you've enjoyed and supported the podcast - THANK YOU!
As it's our birthday, we thought we'd do something a bit spesh and bring you not 1 episodes but 2! Nice birthday treat, eh?

We kick things off with the brilliant Charlie Cooper. If you've seen BBC's award winning THIS COUNTRY then you'll know Charlie as one of the writers and stars. Charlie writes with his sister Daisy May Cooper based on where they grew up in a small village in Gloucestershire. It's a brilliant, hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking series and if you haven't seen it then do yourself a favour and get involved.

When, a few months back, we were invited to bring the podcast to the wonderful Bath Festival, we wanted to try and get a local guest on, so Charlie was the perfect fit and lucky for us, the stars aligned and dates worked out and this is the result. Craig and Charlie sat down with a sold-out crowd in the beautiful city of Bath on a rainy evening and the conversation began. Think you're gonna love this one. We certainly did. We chatted about all sorts and began with the subject of male models...

THANKS SO MUCH FOR DOWNLOADING AND WE'LL SEE YOU IN A BIT FOR ANOTHER BIRTHDAY EPISODE!!!

TSP Classics - #TSP018 - Amanda Abbington

TSP Classics - #TSP018 - Amanda Abbington

May 30, 2019

How the devil are you this Thursday?

Just going back through the archives of TSP and this week we thought we’d bring you a classic episode with the incredible human that is AMANDA ABBINGTON. It’s a beautiful natter with Amanda that we recorded last year in soho, London in a favourite tea shop on Greek Street, Maison Betaux.
We talk about her early years, cruelty at school and strength in life, raising children and so much more. It’s absolute class and we’re proud to bring it to you. Again.

On a side note, just to say we’re almost ready to start back recording BRAND NEW EPISODES! Thanks so much for being patient and we’ll keep you posted when we get back hitting record and bringing the most honest and exciting conversations we can.

Craig xx

Well, another week has passed and here we are. THANK YOU. YES! YOU! You're here for episode 18 of the Two Shot Podcast and we are so chuffed to tell you that this weeks guest is the quite brilliant Amanda Abbington.
You'll know Amanda from all sorts of stuff. Whether it's her TV work in Mr. Selfridge or a small underground cult show called Sherlock... as i say it's quite "niche" so it may not be on your radar. Anyway, enough of all that stuff. This week Craig & Producer Griff met Amanda in London to sit down over a pot of tea (or a coffee for some, it was early!) and thrash things out. It's a really lovely honest chat and Amanda doesn't pull any punches with what she feels or thinks. She's ace. This is an ace episode. You know what? You're ace for subscribing and joining us here on the Two Shot Podcast. So thank you. Here it is, hope you enjoy #TSP018.

TSP Classics - #TSP041 - Matt Berry

TSP Classics - #TSP041 - Matt Berry

May 23, 2019

Happy Thursday everybody. Hope you're alright. We're not so bad thanks for asking. We've just been having a chat on the phone about when we can get some recording done and bring you some fresh Two Shot Podcast action and the good news is, it won't be that long.

In the mean time, we thought we'd let you have a listen to this old episode of the podcast with Matt Berry. Matt's got a new program out called What We Do In The Shadows which you can now watch on the BBC iplayer here (if you're in the UK). It's about Vampires and it's dead funny. Hope you enjoy this episode if you haven't heard it before. X

ORIGINAL TEXT

Here we are again. THIS IS EPISODE 41 OF THE TWO SHOT PODCAST and this week we're thrilled to welcome... the man, the voice... THE MATT BERRY!

Craig & Producer Griff travelled into London's Soho to meet Matt on the hottest day of the year so far (remember that? Was that our summer?) and popped to our favourite tea shop, Maison Bertaux (Greek street - you should go, it's ace!) and sat down, and more importantly cooled down, and then got down to it.
It's a cracker of an episode with Matt and we discuss all sorts; growing up, music, albums, comedy, creativity, insomnia, and the London dungeons. You're gonna love it.

You'll know Matt from his extensive work on shows like Snuffbox, The I.T. Crowd, Darkplace, The Mighty Boosh and of course, the brilliant Toast of London
Sit back. relax. and let the smooth tones of this episode wash over you. YES!!

P.S. Sorry about the background noise in this episode. As it was such a lovely day, all the windows and doors were opened out onto the bustling streets of Soho and the chatter and ambience spilled. Just think of it as a bit of audio set-dressing. Nice one. (Producer Griff)

TSP Classics - #TSP010 - Joseph Gilgun

TSP Classics - #TSP010 - Joseph Gilgun

May 16, 2019

It's mental health awareness week this week so we thought we'd revisit our first Two Shot Podcast chat with Joe Gilgun from September 2017. We get a lot of messages from people who struggle with the insides of their heads and sooooo many of them cite Joe's episodes as a massive help. If you listened to Joe chat with us on episode 78 you'll know he struggles with his mental health, but the way he talks about his experiences seems to resonate completely with so many people. He has an incredible knack of clarifying his thoughts and making the most profound insights whilst simultaneously making you howl with laughter.
Anyway, just thought we'd take the opportunity to share this with anyone who hasn't had chance to listen yet or give you a chance to listen back to this brilliant episode.

(original text)

Alright. How’s it going? Thanks loads for downloading and listening.

Here we at our tenth episode. La Decima! We’ve got something special for you this week...

it’s a Two Shot Podcast chat with the one and only Joseph Gilgun. You might know him as Woody from Shane Meadow's This is England, As Rudy Wade in Misfits alongside our host Craig, as Eli Dingle in ITV's Emmerdale, or morer recently as Cassidy in AMC's Preacher. Joe is a special character. A rakish raconteur with a passion for making people piss their pants laughing. He wears his feelings on his sleeve and his disarming honesty and endearing vulnerability really make this an unmissable episode. We talk about drama school, dyslexia, family, anxieties and growing up in a Lancashire town. It’s a wonderfully frank hour or so and if there’s not at least one moment that doesn’t make you laugh out loud then we’ll give you your money back. Enjoy. It’s Two Shot Pod number ten with Joseph Gilgun.

TSP Classics - #TSP017 - Michael Balogun

May 9, 2019

We're still on our recording hiatus at the moment but we're still thinking about you lot getting your TSP fix.

What we thought we'd do is bring you a selection of our older episodes, so that our newer listeners can hear what's lurking in the back catalogue.

We're gonna kick this run off with this episode from November 2017. It's a chat with the actor Michael Balogun...

(Original Text)

Happy Thursday! Before we get down to it PLEASE READ THIS... We want to say a HUGE thanks... To you! Yes! YOU! Our dear listeners. Two bits of cracking news this week. We were on a list in The Observer (decent paper for those outside these isles). The Two Shot Podcast was in the top 10 most talked about podcasts of 2017! The next day we topped the iTunes Charts of Tv & Film straight in at NUMBER 1! All this is down to you lot supporting, listening and telling others about what you've found. As the clock starts to slowly count down on 2017 this is an amazing bit of news to end the year with so thank you so much.

Right. Let's GET. IT. ON. Episode 17 is a chat with someone who may not have heard of but who's story you are going to remember. Trust us!
His name is Michael Balogun. This is his story and I cannot even begin to tell you how it goes. All I can say is "strap in"; it's a rollercoaster of a tale.

Craig & Producer Griff travelled to meet Michael at the fantastic HOME in Manchester to sit down, brew up and get their podcast on! This is a fascinating chat with someone who is learning from his mistakes and even though it took quite some time to find the right path, he's now well and truly on it. That's as much as we are going to say, don't want to spoil anything.

Enjoy. This is #TSP017 with Michael Balogun.

Line Of Duty x Two Shot Podcast Interview Special

Line Of Duty x Two Shot Podcast Interview Special

May 2, 2019

Yo, yo, yo TSP listeners. How the devil are you and all that. This week is a little bit of a break from the norm whilst we're on our enforced jollies. Dunno if any of you have heard of program called Line of Duty...? It's on at the moment and everyone under the sun is wondering how it's going to play out. You might even been familiar with one previous, devious baddy named DI "Dot" Cotton (It's Craig Parkinson from the Two Shot Podcast if you haven't watched LOD).
It turns out that we've spoken to loads of people who've been on the series. Poppy Miller, Kate Ashfield, Lisa Palfrey as well as the six you're going to hear from today. Line of Duty is a hotbed of talent from the creators, writers, composers, actors and all involved with the making of it.
Anyway, we've got six clips from six old TSP episodes. You're about to hear from; Tony Pitts who played Les Hargreaves, Neil Morrissey who plays Morton, Vicky McClure who plays Kate Flemming, Adrian Dunbar who plays Ted Hastings, Maya Sondhi who plays Maneet Bindra and Danny Mays who plays Danny.
All the episodes are available to hear in full on our archive so if you fancy hearing more from any of the guests then go digging in the crates.

Thanks for being here. TSP X

#TSP086 - Kevin Bishop

#TSP086 - Kevin Bishop

April 25, 2019

Hi Two Shot Podcast downloader. Hope you're well and good. This week we've got a chat with the comic stalwart Kevin Bishop. Kev has been splitting sides for most of his life now, moving between stage and screen with consummate ease. You'll know him from his childhood roles in Muppet's Treasure Island and Grange Hill, or from his Channel 4 comedy work one Star Stories and the Kevin Bishop Show. You may even have seen performing as part of Damon Albarn's Gorillaz playing the voice of 2D.
Kevin is an unstoppable ball of energy and he really shoots from the hip when he speaks. He and Craig discuss childhood limelight, being naughty on set, comedy commissioning, writing what you feel rather than what's required by the current comedic climate and loads, loads more.
It's a fast-paced and hilarious hour with a few hard-hitting truths thrown in for good measure. You'll love it.
This is episode 86 of the Two Shot Podcast with Kevin Bishop.

#TSP085 - Mike Jibson

April 18, 2019

Hiyer. How's it going? Happy Thursday. It's that Two Shot Podcast time of the week and on this episode we're talking to the brilliant Mike Jibson. Mike is a real acting polymath, moving effortlessly between stage, the silver screen and television. You may have seen him recently in his Olivier Award-winning performance in Hamilton or in the films The Lighthouse, Les Miserables and Star Wars or on the telly in The Last Kingdom.
Mike is a passionately honest person with an absolute devotion to his art. His approach to his own mental health and overcoming his obstacles is absolutely inspiring. He and Craig talk childhood inspiration, first-day anxiety, brain farts and calling Hull home. It's a great hour or so and we can't thank Mike enough for coming on and sharing his story with us.

There's a bit of a service announcement in the intro this week so keep your ears open for that.

#TSP084 - Anjli Mohindra

April 11, 2019

What's popping Two Shot Podcast listeners? How are you diddling? It's episode 84 time. We've got another fantastic guest for you this week in the form of the actor Anjli Mohnindra. You might know Anjli from Jed Mercurio's brilliant drama Bodyguard or from ITV's Dark Heart amongst a bunch of other stuff. We met her in Maison Bertaux on Greek Street on a spring-like day where after a brief discussion on the nature of gratitude and moan about ungrateful road users, she and Craig got down to it. She's a brilliantly warm and genuine person with a brilliant outlook on life and we're sure you'll enjoy listening in to her story.
Thanks a lot for being here.

A bit of bad news here about the live show at the BFI -

We’re so sorry to say that due to a personal issue, we’ve had to pull out of the Radio Times festival on April 14th. We're so sorry to let you down but this is unavoidable. Many thanks to Radio Times, the BFI & Richard E. Grant for their warmth & support.

BFI will be in touch about refunds.

We’ll talk to Richard later in the year. Promise.
